Meter boxes are devices used to store electricity meters. The material used to manufacture the casing of low-voltage cable branch boxes is a resin-based composite material. The main components of the casing are injection molded and pressed from four materials: ABS engineering plastic, transparent polycarbonate (PC), DMC, and SMC.
This composite material consists of two parts: a matrix-polyester resin; and reinforcing materials (PC and SMC), hence it is also called transparent PC material or fiber-reinforced polyester material. Transparent PC material and fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester are composite materials with unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix. Both of these materials are insoluble, flame-retardant, and recyclable. The latter material, however, is non-meltable and non-recyclable. Its physical structure is a three-dimensional network structure. These four materials, through functional filler modification and reinforcement with special fibers, have become a high-performance engineering material.
